I'm BACK!

Well, I completely neglected to update this last year towards the end of my training season and of course after finishing the Vegas Half Marathon.

First, I'm so SORRY! Here is why:

I got pregnant. And I cut back significantly on my race training to play it safe. I was actually planning on WALKING the race, until I crossed the starting line and felt like I could actually do it! I took very, very easy and slow. But bottom line, I was about 10 weeks pregnant, and I'm not a good liar. So I didn't know how to talk about my training and the race without talking about my pregnancy.

A Successful Event!

First, I want to thank each and every person that came out to my inaugural Karting for a Cure event to benefit CCFA!! I surpassed my goal and hope to really grow the event in future years as long as life allows me to do it!!

For details on my fundraising success, you can visit my fundraising page HERE!! I can't believe I not only met, but surpassed my goal!

Here are a few pictures from Friday:

Dad and I with socks on our heads (they make you wear these.)

As far as everything else, jpouch is still plugging along and improving! Training is going well too! Though our long group run got rained out again, but we squeezed in 5.5 miles together. And then yesterday I did another 5 by myself. Five to six miles alone isn't bad, though it does get lonely. Anything over 6 is excrutiatingly boring all alone though.

I have another wedding out of town this weekend, so my plan as of today is to go to group session early, run about 4 miles alone and then try and fit in 6 miles with Team Philly. THEN head home early and drive up to Massachusetts for the wedding! I hope this plan works, because it saved me from running alone a few weekends ago!!

Fundraising update: 105%!!!!!!!!
Training: 122 miles

ONE! MORE! DAY!

One more day until my Karting for a Cure event to benefit CCFA at Speed Raceway in Horsham! It feels like I started this whole thing so long ago, and now it's here! I can't imagine people planning a wedding for over a year and feeling the pressure on that big day they've been thinking about for so long.

Here is a sneak peek at some of the gift baskets and supplies taking over my dining room right now!

I have a few more errands to run for kids' entertainment, the fastest time prize, and other odds and ends, all of which I will take care of tomorrow.
As far as training goes, I have gotten all my miles in this week so far, but looking ahead to this weekend's team training (10 miles), it's going to RAIN AGAIN! Please! No more rain!

So far I have run 109 training miles, and I am 90% to my fundraising goal! I hope this event puts me at 100% :-), but you have to come, race, raffle and have a good time to have that happen!

Remember: PRINT THE WHITE FLYER AND BRING IT SPEED RACEWAY! The gray one is all the information. If you forget the flyer, you can bring it up on your smartphone and show it to the cashier, OR I will have a few on hand. But I am not allowed to be passing them out at the venue, so it can only be a few extra!

One Event Down, One to Go!

Yesterday (Sunday), we had the Take Steps Bucks County walk and it was a great success! I was helping organize the day of volunteers and we had everyone show up and do their jobs very well!

The food donations were also awesome this year. The last year that I helped out it was only hot dogs and one teeny tray of chicken from Chic-Fil-A, but this year we had regular pizza, gluten-free pizza, gluten-free cookies/brownies, chips, water and juice, and the hot dogs too!

We also didn't have a Honored Hero (not sure why) but I stepped in and gave a patient speech. Here is the video:

I hate that I kept crossing my legs like that! Get it together, girl!! Otherwise the only other gripe was that I was SO COLD. It was very breezy, and I was constantly in the shade. If I got into the sun, I warmed up, but most of what I was doing, I was in the shade.

Coming up FRIDAY! My event Karting for a Cure will be taking place at Speed Raceway in Horsham!!
The gray flyer has all the information, but the WHITE FLYER is what you need to PRINT AND BRING WITH YOU TO SPEED RACEWAY!!

The Preston and Steve Show

If you can't make it to the event but still want to show your support, you can donate to my fundraising page RIGHT HERE!

As promised, I was on the Preston and Steve Show this morning to talk about my event (and the Take Steps Bucks County Walk) to benefit CCFA! It was great to see the guys again after so long. It made me realize how much of a hermit I really had become while battle UC for so many years before finally evicting my evil colon. Here is the chat about the event, the disease, and my experience with it all:

If you are coming here for the first time since hearing this interview, I'll post the flyers again. The gray and yellow flyer is all the information about the event, but make sure to PRINT AND BRING THE WHITE FLYER TO SPEED RACEWAY! They need the white flyer so that proceeds will go directly to CCFA!!

I am 88% to my fundraising goal!
I have run a total of 93 miles so far in my training!
Check back soon for more updates-- we have a 9 mile training run this Saturday with Team Challenge, wish me luck!
